Bridge project gets funding
A series of bridge repairs in Imperial County is among hundreds of transportation projects statewide announced by the California Transportation Commission on Thursday.
Six bridges at various locations on Interstate 8 and State Route 78 are slated for restoration, including painting, deck repair and column work. Caltrans has budgeted $200,000 for the project.
That amount will come out of $600 million Caltrans allocated for new roadwork projects statewide, a total that includes $80 million from SB 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
“Caltrans will focus on repairing and rehabilitating the state highway system by improving pavement, bridges, culverts and intelligent transportation systems, which are included in the performance requirements of SB 1, to improve transportation for all of our residents and visitors, no matter their mode of transportation.” Caltrans Director Laurie Berman said.
