Eagles squeeze past Lady Hornets

CALIPATRIA — Playing on the road on Tuesday, the Southwest High girls’ basketball team inched their way back toward an even record after defeating the host Calipatria Hornets by a score of 37-35.

The game was one of minimal separation. Neither team really went on huge runs or had much success scoring in general.

Calipatria led by four at the half 15-11, but Southwest was able to win the third quarter 10-6 to tie it up entering the fourth.

Things started to heat up in the final frame, as both teams posted their highest point totals in the quarter, but the Eagles were able to pull out the win in the end.

Following the win, Southwest (5-6) is off until they face the La Jolla Vikings on Dec. 27 in a holiday tournament.

Calipatria (7-4) will be playing Indio on Dec. 26. Other results:
