Mary Alice Sperber, 62, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Mary was born on September 21, 1956 in Calexico, CA to Joseph and Marguerite Muller. A faithful Catholic, she attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School until 7th grade and then Holtville High School in Holtville, CA where she graduated in June of 1974. Upon receiving her librarian certificat­e at Imperial Valley College, Mary returned to Alma Mater where she provided 30 years of service as the Holtville High School librarian. She greatly enjoyed interactin­g with and supporting the many students she got to know over the years. During her three decade long career, she was very active in various groups on campus including ASB, AFS, and serving as the advisor of Pep Club and Cheer. Mary organized a countless number of career days where she brought in many different profession­s to meet the interests of the students of Holtville High. When she wasn’t at school, Mary could be found spending time with those she loved. She cherished spending time with her grandchild­ren and shopping. She had an adventurou­s spirit and loved to travel. One of her greatest joys was going on adventures with her late husband Earle. She loved riding on the back of his motorcycle while they traveled to Spacefest to meet astronauts. Mary was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Woman’s Club of Holtville, and the Imperial Valley Swiss Club. Also, as a proud Green Bay Packers fan and shareholde­r, Mary often quoted Vince Lombardi saying “The Green Bay Packers never lost a football game. They just ran out of time.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earle Sperber and parents, Joseph and Marguerite Muller.

Mary is survived by her children, Gretchen (Jess) Johnson, Danell (Brad) Gunter, Trevor Cartee; grandchild­ren, Haylee, Oslynn, Conner, Brylee, Kynslee; sisters, Margie Stacey, Patti Muller Sanders, Susan Omlin; brother, Tom Muller and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 6-9 p.m. at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Holtville, CA with Rosary being said at 7 p.m. Service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Holtville, CA. Burial will immediatel­y follow at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.
