Tons of meat reported stolen

Between 4 and 6 tons of meat were reported stolen from a packing plant west of Mexicali Thursday morning, according to media reports.

A plant supervisor notified authorities about the incident at 10 a.m. at the Su Karne plant located by the kilometer 13.5 mark of the Tijuana Highway.

The plant worker reported the incident to authorities after noticing that six pallets of meat were missing.

According to the report, the burglary presumably occurred early Thursday morning.

The Attorney General’s office has opened an investigation.
