Man shot in rural area
A 53-year-old man was shot in the leg early Sunday by an unknown individual, according to media reports.
La Voz newspaper said the victim was identified as Jesús Martinez, of Ejido Yucatán.
According to the victim, the incident occurred at his home, where the suspect shot him in his left leg for unknown reasons.
The victim was transported to the Clinic 2 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security.
Clinic staff reported the incident to authorities at 6:48 a.m.
The victim was eventually transported to Mexicali General Hospital.
