President’s party leads in poll

Gov. Francisco Vega party would lose the state it has held for three decades.

The National Action Party is preferred by 11.2 percent of likely voters, followed by former President Enrique Peña party (the Institutio­nal Revolution­ary Party) with 5.7 percent.

Independen­t candidates are next with 4.9 percent.

However, the poll indicates 23.5 percent declined to express their opinion.

All other parties do not receive more than 2.3 percent of votes, according to the poll.

The results show former Sen. Jaime Bonilla would obtain between 48.9 percent and 54.4 percent of votes.

In second place came former state Secretary of Education Oscar Vega of the National Action Party with between 11.4 percent and 13.7 percent.

The best Candidate of the Institutio­nal Revolution­ary Party is former Congresswo­man Nancy Sánchez with 9.8 percent.

Consult a pollster Roy Campos said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, whose party swept most of Mexico in the July elections, is approved by 72.6 percent of likely voters.

The president’s approval rating nearly matches negative opinion voters hold for Gov. Vega, who has the disapprova­l of 73.9 percent of likely voters.
