Four arrested for home burglary

-

Four El Centro residents were taken into custody in connection to a recent home burglary in which two firearms, ammunition and miscellaneous jewelry items were stolen.

Three of the four suspects, Faith Rose Estrada, 20, Miguel Quines, 43, and Jessie Herrera, 40, were booked into county jail for charges associated with the burglary or the possession of stolen property. The fourth suspect, Isiah McQueen, 20, was not booked into jail.

While portions of the case remain under investigation, an El Centro Police Department press release on Wednesday stated the stolen items were recovered from the suspects.

ECPD officers responded to the home, located in the 1800 block of Desert Gardens, on Monday, when the owner first reported the incident.

The residents were out of town during the incident and, upon their return, discovered their home had been robbed.

The suspects were believed to have entered through a dog door, and the residents’ daughter was identified as a possible suspect, ECPD call logs stated.

On Tuesday morning, ECPD Criminal Investigations Division followed up on the case and was able to obtain valuable information, including a possible suspect vehicle, a white Dodge Avenger.

The license plate was entered into the Regional Automated License Plate Reader system.

At 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, officers received an alert on the vehicle southbound on Dogwood at Hamilton.

Detectives who were already in the area looking for the vehicle were able to find it with information from the APLR alert.

The driver and two passengers in the vehicle were found to be in possession of some of the items reported missing from the home after the burglary.

Estrada, Quines and McQueen were each taken into custody and transported to ECPD for further investigation.

Investigators followed up at the 400 block of Driftwood Drive and Premier Inn on Adams Avenue.

Upon police arrival at the motel, at least three people were seen running away from motel room No. 124.

One person, Herrera, was subsequently captured at Seventh Street and Woodward Avenue while attempting to flee.

Herrera was in possession of a backpack, which later was revealed to contain two firearms reported stolen after the burglary.
