Brush fire extinguished

Local fire departments on Wednesday night worked to extinguish a second-alarm fire involving two large palm trees on Clark Road, south of McCabe Road.

The fire was first reported to 911 approximately 7:42 p.m. and was under control by approximately 8:20 p.m.

Imperial County Fire Department was the first to respond and, upon arrival, quickly initiated a second alarm due to nearby structures being endangered.

Assisting ICFD were the El Centro, Calexico and Holtville fire departments, as well as Imperial Irrigation District.

ICFD did not respond to a request for comment as of press time Thursday.
