Children’s book about farming honored
WASHINGTON,
D.C. – A children’s book from the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture recently took home a children’s literacy award.
“Right This Very Minute,” by Lisl H. Detlefsen and illustrated by Renee Kurilla is the very first title published under American Farm Bureau Foundation’s Feeding Minds Press imprint.
The book was awarded a Growing Good Kids Book Award from the American Horticultural Society’s Junior Master Gardener program.
“Right This Very Minute” is geared toward children in kindergarten through third grade. The 32-page picture book follows children through an entire day of meals and snacks, with each one emphasizing how critical farmers and agriculture are to society.
Hardcover copies of “Right This Very Minute” may be ordered online at https://www.dmsfulfillment.com/FarmBureau/ DMSStore/Product/ ProductDetail/26233 for $17.99 each.
Related materials available for purchase include an educator’s guide (seven lessons that encourage students to dig deeper into thinking about where the food on their plates originated) and a Snacks Ag Mag.
American Farm Bureau Foundation’s mission is to build awareness and understanding of agriculture through education. Through its Feeding Minds Press imprint, the foundation aims to publish accurate and engaging books about agriculture that connect readers to where their food comes from and to who grows it.
