The El Centro Sector of the U.S. Border Patrol on Monday reported three recent arrests of persons who had been previously convicted of sexual offenses.

The first arrest happened about noon on Friday, after agents assigned to the El Centro Border Patrol Station observed a man enter the United States illegally. During processing, agents discover the 30-year-old Mexican national had a previous conviction on Oct. 8, 2013 for sex with a minor in Victorville, Calif. He had been sentenced to 36 months’ probation and 280 days in jail.

The next day, about 7:30 a.m., agents caught a second man who illegally cross the border and learned he was a 34-year-old Mexican national with a record of sexual assault. The man had been sentenced to five years in prison in Sept. 14, 2012, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, for the crime.

The third incident involved a woman who is a U.S. citizen wanted on a federal warrant for failure to appear. Agents detained the woman and contacted the U.S. Marshal Service for extradition.

The 32-year-old woman previously had been convicted on April 24, 2017 on a child molestation charge in San Bernardino. She was sentenced to 36 months’ probation and 30 days in jail, according to the Border Patrol.

The two arrested men were processed criminally for 8 USC 1326, Re-entry of Removed Aliens. and will be held in federal custody pending their hearings.

The woman was turned over to U.S. Marshals.
