On Saturday, November 14, 2020, Micaela Ochoa Torres, loving mother of 7, went to be with our Lord and Savior at the age of 7 8. Micaela passed away peacefully at El Centro Regional Medical Center.

Micaela was born on September 29, 1942 i n Navolato, Sinaloa, Mexico. It was there that she would spend her childhood and teenage years. As a young adult she moved to Mexicali, Mexico in search of a b etter life. It w as in Mexicali, where her first two children would b e born. Shortly thereafter Micaela would immigrate to t he United States and would begin her work as a migrant farm worker. She would migrate b etween Calexico, C A and Monterrey C ounty in Northern California to work in the crops. In 1975 Micaela would permanentl­y move t o Calexico and would remain a resident for the rest of her life.

Micaela was a very dedicated farm w orker but her true passions in life were her children and her Christian faith and belief in Jesus Christ. She was a committed prayer warrior, and she could regularly be found praying for her children and grandchild­ren at p rayer groups that started at 5 a.m. In addition to prayer groups, Micaela enjoyed spending time with her children and siblings playing card games such as Malia and playing Loteria. Micaela was an avid reader and was known for her courageous attitude, quick wit, and sharp memory. Every child and grandchild could count on receiving a call for his or her birthday.

Micaela was preceded in death by her mother Lucia; her father Serapio; her sister Victoria; her brother Leonides; her son Carlos and she became a widow of her late husband Miguel in 2005.

She is survived by her 7 children, Sonia Coyle, Emma G utierrez, Mario Torres, Yolanda Flores, Aracely Corpus, Alberto Torres, Miguel Torres Jr.; 18 Grandchild­ren and her siblings which include 5 sisters and a brother.

Micaela will be deeply missed and as the Matriarch of t he family, she has left behind a tremendous void. However, she also leaves behind beautiful memories, lasting life lessons, the gift of faith and most of a ll she leaves behind a mother’s love w hich we know is ever lasting and unconditio­nal. Per her request, her earthly remains will be interred in San Antonio, TX. We l ove you Mom and we will see you again someday.
