ROSEMARY GARCIA SALAZAR

Rosemary Garcia Salazar 80, a lifelong resident of El Centro, began her peaceful journey to e ternal life on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

The eldest of four children, Rosemary was born to l oving parents Pete and Connie Garcia. She graduated from CUHS in 1958 and married her highschool sweetheart David Salazar in 1960. Together they began the legacy she has left with us today. Rosemary began her teaching career in 1962 and over the next decade would be blessed with three beautiful children while completing a Masters of E ducation in 1974. An accomplish­ed educator, Rosemary taught at several Imperial County school districts, retiring after 38 years in 2002. She was a parishione­r at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in El Centro. Every person Rosemary crossed paths w ith was a part of her heart. She was a symbol of faith, elegance and perseveran­ce. Life was never about the destinatio­n, but the journey.

She w as preceded in death by her husband, David and her daughter, Yvonne (Salazar) Alcantar.

She is survived by her brother, Pete Garcia of W. V irginia; sister, Sallie Callahan of R amona, CA and Mario Garcia of Centro; her son, David (Gaby) Salazar of El Centro; son- in- law, J oe Alcantar of B eaumont, CA and daughter Lori (Salazar) Taylor of El Centro; grandchild­ren, Adrian (Ted), Diana (Dave), Brittany, Emilio, Alyssa, Justin, Anthony and Andrew; four g reat- grandchild­ren, numerous nieces, nephews, f amily and friends who she loved with all of her heart.

Services will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Our Lady o f Guadalupe Church in El C entro. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 1 0:30 a.m. followed by mass at 11:30a.m. and will be officiated by F ather Mark Edney.
