Film Commission announces virtual events
The Imperial County Film Commission (ICFC) has announced a series of virtual events scheduled for the coming weeks.
On April 24, commission will conduct the first in a series of virtual educational webinars. The webinars will be free and open to the public, ICFC said.
The first webinar will cover film permits. It is intended to educate independent filmmakers on the film permit process and the necessity of production insurance.
Dan Taylor, president of Inland Empire Film Services, and Charla Teeters, film commissioner for Imperial County, will discuss the process, changes and challenges they have witnessed in the industry and share stories and experiences from their careers.
Those interested in participating must register no later than April 22 at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_XdQhytGZRMW-F66ns-4NGw.
ICFC also announced it plans to conduct a series of virtual film festivals. The commission said these festivals, each focusing on a unique genre of filmmaking and storytelling, are designed to encourage filmmakers, their craft and provide an audience for their work.
Each festival will be available for everyone to view online for one week.
The first festival will celebrate the energy, fun and craft of music videos. Call for entries is now open with a deadline of May 1. A panel of judges will view all entries and select the top three winners for a cash prize. All music videos will be screened online May 15-22.
Entry is free. Filmmakers can submit multiple entries, but each entry must be submitted separately, the commission said. Entries will be accepted according to the Motion Pictures Association of America Rating Board System, but any film containing R-rated material, nudity, guns, graphic violence, drug use, alcohol or cigarette consumption will not be accepted.
All films/videos and applications must be submitted electronically through Dropbox, WeTransfer, or Vimeo (with download link enabled) or emailed to ImperialValleyFF@gmail.com.
