PATRICIA N. FORTENBERRY

Patricia ( a. k. a. Pat) passed away Wednesday May 19, 2021 with her daughter- in- law and two granddaughters at her side.
Pat was born in Arkansas on December 31, 1936 to p arents Velda and Jewel “Red” Dearmore. The family eventually moved to C alifornia where she met the love of her life Bobby Fortenberry, and married on September 3, 1 955 in Yuma, AZ. They had two sons Kelly and Douglas Fortenberry.
They all helped in the family business of custom harvesting, ( Fortenberry & Sons) while she kept the books. Also during this time she opened up her own business called “Pat’s M arket” in Westmorland, CA f or a few years, it was known as the town hangout and gossip place. A nything you wanted t o know that was the place to go! She eventually closed h er store and became a homemaker. P at and Bob divorced in 1985.
Pat had a passion for poetry and loved writing poems and letters to family members. She loved her family more than anything, including the friends that became family, and her dogs that became her fur babies ( Tuffy, Shilo, and Gizmo.) Her sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She w ill be greatly missed.
Pat was preceded in death by e x husband, Bobby Fortenberry; parents, Velda and Jewel “Red” Dearmore; brothers, Jim (Donna), Jack, and Bill Dearmore; sister, Julie “Mousie” Phillips; nephew, R ocky Dearmore; niece, Shelley Gibson; her fur babies, Tuffy, Shilo and Gizmo. Pat is survived by her sister; Debbie (Gordon) Richards of El Centro; sister- in- law, Sharon Dearmore of Brawley; sons, Kelly (Judy) Fortenberry of Brawley a nd Douglas Fortenberry of Kuwait; granddaughters, Ashlee (James “JR”) Bell of Holtville and Rebecca Fortenberry of Westmorland; great- grandchildren, Brooklyn, Bentlee, Brayden Bell of Holtville, Khloe and Ethan Fortenberry of Brawley; nieces, Cathy Hobbs of Niland, Laurie (Mark) Dowden of Brawley, Stacy (Steve) Gutierrez of Y uma, Trina (Kevin) Hutchinson of B rawley and Jan Price of Westmorland; nephews, Ronnie Dearmore of Niland, Gary “Buddy” (Carmen) Phillips of Ramona, Leland (Sandra) Phillips, Michael (Maggie) Phillips of Imperial, Coy Richards of Arizona, Travis (Becky) Collier of Westmorland and numerous greatnieces/nephews, cousins and friends.
