Spectrum announces upgrade

-

Spectrum Internet customers in the Imperial Valley will receive an upgrade to their service.

Spectrum announced that starting download speeds for its customers in the area have doubled from 100 to 200 megabits pers second (Mbps). The company explained the upgrade is part of a commitment to improve the download speeds in all markets in its 41-state service area in 2022.

The company said it will automatically increase speeds for current residential customers with Spectrum Internet packages in the coming weeks. 7 p.m.

The free concert (donations will be accepted) will include performances of Felix Mendelssohn’s “Hebrides Overture;” Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 38, also known as the “Prague Symphony,” and the “Mars” and “Jupiter” movements from Gustav Holst’s symphonic suite, “The Planets.”

“I think that the fact we are doing two movements from ‘The Planets’ is exciting,” said Orchestra Director Matthew Busse. “The music calls for a huge orchestra, and we have a lot of extra help from San Diego musicians coming down to perform with us. If people are not familiar with Mars, which was composed between 1914-1916, they will hear music that sounds as if it came from John Williams or Hans Zimmer movies.”

The evening’s program also will include Busse’s own composition, “Idyll for Violin and Orchestra,” which will feature local violinist Christina Kim.

“It will be an exciting concert, with a lot of musicians coming from San Diego,” Busse said. “I am hoping that we can get a decent size crowd.”
