Sex offender arrested downtown

El Centro Sector Border Patrol reported the arrest an undocumented individual with a prior conviction for a sexual offense early Sunday morning.

According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection release agents arrested two individuals at 2:12 a.m. The pair had illegally entered the United States near downtown, east of the west port of entry. They were taken to the El Centro Sector Processing Center for follow-up.

Record checks revealed one of the individuals was previously convicted for a sexual offense with time served in jail. Additionally, the subject was previously ordered to be removed from the United States by an immigration judge.

The release said Border Patrol will process both individuals accordingly.
