Many government offices to close for Cinco de Mayo
The state of Baja California will partially close its doors Friday for the Cinco de Mayo holiday.
State Executive Officer Rocío López said the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla has been set in both labor agreements and state law as a holiday.
Although May 5 actually falls on Thursday, the holiday was moved in order to provide employees a long weekend.
López said most of the state’s activities, including tax collection, will be suspended.
However, emergency healthcare services and law enforcement will stay open.
The executive officer said services will resume Monday.
