Man caught with cash

A man was arrested while driving an unregistered vehicle in which the authorities found a significant amount of cash.

The state department of Public Safety said Wednesday Luis Daniel, 33, of Mexicali, was arrested close to Anáhuac Boulevard and Hector Terán Avenue.

The suspect was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that had no plates. The driver had no driver’s license, either.

The police said the suspect was unable to produce vehicle registration documents.

Police found a quantity of cash in the vehicle totaling 285,000 pesos (more than $14,000).

The driver was unable to report how he acquired the cash, police said.

The authorities seized the vehicle and turned the suspect and the cash over to the Mexican Attorney General’s Office.
