Pedro G. C arrillo, passed a way Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the age of 90 surrounded by his loving family after living with A lzheimer's f or many years.

Pedro was born in Mexicali, Baja California in 1931. He was one o f ten children born to Maria de Los Angeles Guajardo and Cipriano C arrillo. One of t he o riginal braceros hired to work in the United States through the federal program in the 1950's, Pedro was a farm laborer the majority of his l ife. He married Maria Gloria S aenz in Sonora, Mexico in 1967. They b riefly l ived in Mexicali b efore m oving to Los Angeles where the couple resided for a few years while he gained experience in the constructi­on field. Pedro and Gloria had four daughters. In 1974 P edro g ained employment with D'Arrigo Brothers i n Imperial County a nd t he f amily moved to Brawley where they made their permanent r esidence. Pedro worked f or D 'Arrigo Brothers for close to thirty y ears a nd l ived through the labor rights movement of t he f armworkers of the 1960's and 70's. He b ecame an e xpert field laborer, specializi­ng in seed planting and driving tractors. His nieces a nd n ephews knew him as Tio Pete. Pedro enjoyed spending time fishing, grilling and with his family in Mexicali. His favorite pastime was baseball a nd was a huge D odgers f an. His priority w as a lways his huge D odgers f an. His priority w as a lways his family and raising his four daughters. He is remembered for his sense of h umor, possessing a strong work ethic, being responsibl­e and for being a pillar in his family.

Pedro is survived by his spouse, Maria Gloria o f Brawley and daughters, Maria Guadalupe (George Martinez), Yolanda (Francisco B arbosa), Maria Laura ( Rene Peinado) and Sonia (Henry Colchado) and grandchild­ren, George, Francisco Jr., Mariano Sebastian, Angelica, Gabriella Celeste, Katia Lucia and Andres as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

The family is infinitely grateful to the amazing staff at M iravilla C are Center for the care provided to Pedro during his stay and t o AmPm Hospice and Mission Hospice for their care a nd emotional support.

A wake will be held Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley from 6-9 pm. Rosary at 7 pm. A mass in his honor will b e held Friday May 13, 2022 at 10 am a t Saint Margaret Mary Church in Brawley. Internment at Riverview Cemetery will be immediatel­y following t he mass. A reception to celebrate his life will be offered at Hidalgo Hall in Brawley from 12-2 pm.
