Child found dead, parents arrested

A man and a woman were arrested Tuesday in a southern Mexicali home in connection to the death of a 4-year-old boy.

According to media reports, someone called authorities to report an injured child at 1244 Privada Volta II St. in the Lagos del Sol area.

Upon arrival, paramedics and police found the child, Iván Francisco, dead.

According to the reports, the child had sustained multiple injuries to the head, abdomen and chest.

The injuries and malnutrition reportedly resulted in an infection and septic shock.

Police detained the boy’s stepfather, Omar Adolfo, 30, and his mother, Nancy, 21.

Authorities also took six other minors into custody for protection and additional medical evaluation.
