MEXICALI BRIEFS
Miguel Angel, aka “Chicano,” and Carlos Oswaldo, aka “Estrella,” face charges in the Jan. 4 robbery of a bank customer at La Gran Vía shopping mall who was carrying more than a half million pesos (about $26,000) that belonged to a political party.
The authorities alleged the suspects arrived at the scene in a Mazda and brandished firearms to demand cash from the victims.
The suspects took the cash and a woman’s purse. A third suspect was driving the Mazda, the agency said.
The authorities said the robbers, led by Miguel Angel, watched victims at automated teller machines and then pursued them to commit the robberies.
The agency also alleges the suspects were involved in three robberies reported in October, November and March involving a total of more than 332,000 pesos, or about $16,500.
Estrella reportedly has a criminal history that includes crimes like robberies, drug and firearms possession, residential robberies, and trespassing.
