Police and Fire departments welcome new personnel

Calexico Fire Department announced the introduction of Jorge Meza as a probationary firefighter to the team on Tuesday. Meza has three years of experience with the Imperial County Fire Department.

The Calexico Police Deparment has a new recruit as well. Officer Victor Garate joined the team on May 4. Garate will be partnered with a veteran police officer and assigned to an intensive field training program. He has previous experience as a campus safety officer at Imperial Valley College.

“This is a perfect example why we have the campus safety officers program on campus, to give law enforcement students the experience needed to succeed in their professional career,” said Gina Madrid, campus safety coordinator at IVC.
