IMPERIAL COUNTY CLERK-RECORDER

-

Jacob Rodriguez Age: 22 Occupation:

Notary/web designer

List your previous civic leadership experience.

I am secretary of the governing board of the County Democratic Central Committee and president of a multi-national mock government alumni association that I co-founded. I was also a media commissioner for CUHS’ ASB, served on the LCAP advisory committee, a civil grand juror, and a former Behavioral Health employee.

What issue will you focus on?

My priorities are ensuring electronic document delivery and recordation is properly deployed with extensive planning and testing, both to ensure easy access by the public and to personally ensure any systems used are secure to avoid another incident like in 2019. The website, documents and forms also need substantive updating.

Why did you decide to seek election in your respective race?

I wanted to help end stagnation in local government and make it less of a joke. I knew that I have what it takes to pull it off. Also, my opponent’s shameless and unsuccessful efforts with the Prop 8 legal battle upon assuming office made it much easier to decide.

What is your strongest asset?

My attention to the details and quality of the work I put out. Mediocrity in the private sector is one thing; but in the public sector, from which we cannot escape or opt out of, mediocrity is wholly unacceptable. Overlooked details can result in minor inconveniences to financial ruin.

Why should the voters vote for you?

Simply put, I can do the job better than my opponent. After decades of governance that involves only doing the bare minimum, I think we deserve a county government that is not the source of joke material or frustration. I have the technical, design, and administrative skills to revitalize it.

Chuck Storey Age: 68

Occupation: Incumbent clerk-recorder

List your previous civic leadership experience.

I have been your elected Imperial County clerk-recorder since 2011. Over the years, I have served as president of the Imperial Valley Association of Realtors, twice as the regional chairman of the California Association of Realtors, president of the Early Risers Kiwanis Club and a member of Imperial Rotary.

What issue will you focus on?

I have concentrated on making major improvements in the Clerk-Recorder’s Office since I became clerk-recorder, and we are looking forward to continuing the faster return of documents with introduction of new electronic systems this year including electronic recording and automatic indexing of files to speed processing of documents.

Why did you decide to seek re-election in your respective race?

My staff and I share a vision of a greatly improved Clerk-Recorder’s Office, and we are working to complete this goal. Electronic systems are being implemented to move us forward and provide better service, and I am looking forward to completing this conversion for you, our residents.

What is your strongest asset?

Caring. I care for the protection and preservation of the documents that we are responsible for. I care how these are prepared and presented to you. I care that Imperial County Clerk-Recorder’s Office serves you in a courteous manner and delivers your documents to you a professional manner.

Why should the voters vote for you?

My motto: “Promises Made, Promises Kept.” I believe that I have kept the promises that I made before I was elected. I have delivered on everything that I promised. My staff unanimously endorsed me for re-election, and I believe that they know best who can provide the future leadership.
