I have more than 45 years of experience in law enforcement, the last 15 years as Imperial County undersheriff, the sheriff’s second in command. My civic leadership experience includes working with youth programs, community organizations, and with local, regional, state government officials to enhance public safety services in our community.

What issue will you focus on?

I want to utilize Sheriff’s Office resources to make our community a safer place for you and your families. I will continue to address the current No Bail Schedule that law enforcement has been operating under for the past two years, mental health/homeless concerns, and increasing rural crime.

Why did you decide to seek election in your respective race?

Sheriff Loera, who is retiring, has been an invaluable mentor the last 15 years. We still have work to do. As his second in command, and with my experience and leadership qualities, I am confident I can take the Sheriff’s Office into the future, building on his success and contributions.

What is your strongest asset?

My strongest asset is leadership experience, developed throughout 29 years with the California Highway Patrol (the last seven as commander), and as the ICSO undersheriff for the past 15 years, overseeing daily operations of the Sheriff’s Office and the 300-400 inmates housed in the county jail.

Why should the voters vote for you?

I have the leadership experience necessary to be an effective Sheriff for Imperial County. With my 45-plus years in law enforcement, I recognize that the challenges facing us are the only constant. We must work together. Collaboration between community members and agencies serving them will help us move forward together.
