Teacher and 3 students injured in chemistry lab explosion
An explosion in a junior high school chemistry lab injured a teacher and three of her students Monday, according to media reports.
The incident was reported at 2 p.m. at Junior High School 4 in the Pueblo Nuevo area.
Police and firefighters were deployed to the scene after the explosion of an unknown chemical was reported.
The teacher told the authorities she was cleaning the laboratory when the explosion took place.
She reportedly suffered injuries to one of her legs.
According to the teacher, the explosion took place after a container was opened containing a greenish substance.
Two 14-year-old students and a 15-year-old one suffered smoke inhalation. The students also had irritated skin.
Hazardous chemical specialists decontaminated the laboratory.
