ARNOLDO DIAZ LOVIO Apr. 3, 1933 – Jan. 5, 2023

It is with heavy, but full hearts that we announce the peaceful p assing o f our treasured father, grandfathe­r, a nd f amily storytelle­r, Arnoldo Diaz Lovio. H e was born in Santana, Sonora, Mexico, on April 3, 1933; one of a very l arge f amily of brothers and s isters. After making the long journey to the U.S. (several times) he chose to build a home and have a family with his wife of 50 years, Teresa, in El Centro, California.

Arnoldo enjoyed many trades in his lifetime, among them am iner, house mover, a carpenter, there was also, thankfully, o nly one days work placing dynamite inside a mountain. If y ou're his family, y ou know why we're thankful about that, and you'll a lso know he was gifted with other talents. He e njoyed t he challenge of c aptivating an audience, be it two or twenty; especially h is grandchild­ren with s illy stories, j okes, or s ongs. Most of a ll, h e enjoyed being outside tending to his flowers while listening to music and speaking with n eighbors a s they walk b y, and t hankfully, his green thumb was a gift that was passed onto a select few family members.

The biggest personalit­y in o ur f amily will b e greatly missed, but fondly remembered and seen everyday in the thoughts, actions, and stories shared by his six surviving children, Helen, Arnold, Gloria, Ines, Arturo, and Terri; t welve grandchild­ren; a nd n ine great-grandchild­ren. May he r est in p eace. M ass will be February 9, 2023, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe and burial will be following the mass, at Evergreen C emetery, 10 a.m.

Per Dads wishes, there will b e no v iewing, rosary, or reception.

IRENE FLORES AVILA Aug. 26, 1953 - Jan. 30, 2023

Irene Flores Avila, 69, a lifetime resident of Brawley, p assed away p eacefully on Monday, January 30, 2023.

Irene graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1972. She worked at the Clinicas de Salud del Pueblo f or 20 years and finished her career with Imperial County Behavioral Health Services for 2 3 years until she retired in September 2021.

She was preceded in death by h er p arents, Abel a nd B ertha Flores; her loving husband of 50 years, Manuel Avila; son, Manuel Avila Jr.; and sister, Rosa Morales.

She is survived by her daughter, Irma C aldwell (Randy); g randson, Joseph Gonzales (Samantha); granddaugh­ter, Sarah Daniel ( Casey); granddaugh­ter, Ashley Caldwell (Robert); grandson, Randy Caldwell Jr.; great-grandchild­ren, B ella, Kayden, Mason, Z oe, Madelyn, Noah, L auren, and Remi; brothers, Abel, Charlie, and Roy; sisters, Armida, Angie, C ora, Connie, Margie, and Nancy; brother-in-law, Richard; s isters-in-law, Frances, S ally, C armen, Rosa, Christina, Amparo, and Isabel.

Services will be held on February 13, 2023, at Saint Margaret Mary Church in Brawley, CA. The Viewing will be from 8:30-9:30 a.m., with a Rosary from 9:30-10 a.m. Mass will begin at 10 a.m., with a burial to follow immediatel­y after at Riverview Cemetery. After her burial, friends and family are invited to lunch at Hidalgo Hall in Brawley, CA.
