With peaceful hearts, the family o f Wava Audine R ader a nnounces her passing on February 3, 2023. She lived a proud and dignified 94 years. Originally from El Dorado, KS, Wava moved west with her family and in 1 947, g raduated f rom Central Union High School in El Centro, CA. She was an essential part of t he l ocal C ampfire Girls and 4H c lubs f or many y ears a nd l ater worked a s a clerk and cashier in t he t raffic courts for Imperial County. Wava was also an accomplish­ed s eamstress, working various paid and volunteer positions in the community, including at the nearby Naval Air Facility. For the entirety of her adult life, Wava l ived in the same El Centro house where she and her husband, Carl, created a home and raised their six children. Though always an enthusiast­ic reader, in her later years it was not unheard of for her to read an entire book in a single day, and her guilty pleasure w as a g ood Harlequin romance. Wava was predecease­d by her husband, Carl Eugene R ader; son, Merle; and sister, Dora. She is survived by her beloved children, Melvin, Stephen, S andra, A llan, and Marie. In addition to her 13 g randchildr­en, Wava will also be missed by an abundance of loving great- a nd g reatgreat-grandchild­ren, a s well as her beloved dog, Jenny. There will be a viewing at Frye Chapel and Mortuary, 3 38 W. Aten Rd., Imperial, CA, from 1 0-11 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023. A service will be performed immediatel­y following at Memory Gardens Cemetery (I.V. Memorial P ark), 3320 California 86, Imperial, CA.
