Imperial County Area Agency on Aging is now accepting applicatio­ns

IMPERIAL COUNTY — The Imperial County Area Agency on Aging (ICAAA) announced that it is accepting applicatio­ns for the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) member position on their Advisory Council.

According to a County of Imperial and Imperial County Public Administra­tor press release, currently the ICAAA has one (1) vacant HICAP position. An individual that is either a HICAP program volunteer or client, once selected by the Advisory Council, can fill the position.

“The ICAAA Advisory Council serves to advise the ICAAA regarding issues important to Imperial County seniors and their caregivers,” the release reads. “The Advisory Council members support the ICAAA with the following purposes: annual public hearings, needs assessment­s, recommenda­tions, program monitoring, and advocacy.”

Per the release, the compositio­n of the Advisory Council is prescribed in the laws and regulation­s of the Older Americans Act (Federal), as amended, and the Older California­ns Act (State). “All members are responsibl­e to participat­e, as fully as possible, in all activities of the council, including the developmen­t, revision, and approval of the Area Plan on Aging. Each member is required to be present, to serve on at least one committee, and attend scheduled meetings of the Advisory Council,” the release reads.

Interested individual­s may find the applicatio­n online at www.aaa24.org or at the Imperial County Area Agency on Aging office, located at 778 West State Street in El Centro. Applicatio­ns are due by Friday, March 17.

Elections are to be conducted during the regularly scheduled Advisory Council Meeting in April 2023, per the release.
