REYMUNDO “RAY” G. VALENZUELA

It is with a heavy heart that w e announce t he loss o f our beloved father, husband, g randfather, and great-grandfather, Reymundo "Ray" Valenzuela, 82, of El Centro, CA. He was born on January 31, 1941, in Marfa, Texas, and p assed away peacefully on February 22, 2023.
Ray married Josefina F. Valenzuela o n April 28, 1962, at S t. M ary's Church, El Centro, CA.
As a young man, Ray worked in agriculture with his family. He then worked a t Shelton's wrecking y ard and then as a manager at an equipment r ental service. In the late 60's, he went to work f or the City of El Centro as Superintendent of Public Works, where he l ater r etired in 1984. His first passion was being with family and taking them on long, extended vacations. Then, cooking for all occasions for family and f riends, making the best "barbacoa" of Imperial Valley. He was a member o f the Lion's Club as the president of the club. And his favorite word was "JOSIE!!"
He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Valenzuela; his mother, Guadalupe Garcia Valenzuela; his son, Ray Valenzuela; his sister, Lilia; his brother, Jesse Valenzuela.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 6 1 years, Josie F. V alenzuela; daughters, Becky ( Mike) Wickline o f El C entro, CA, and Rachel (Ken) Yasunaga o f Fresno, CA; grandchildren, P riscilla Wickline o f El C entro, CA, A lyssa V alenzuela (Fiance, Hunter Toten) of Holtville, CA, M ichael Ray (Raven) Wickline of Imperial, CA, N ickalus Yasunaga of Fresno, CA, and Kiyomi Rae Yasunaga o f Fresno, CA; greatgrandchildren; Brytni Rae Valenzuela a nd B ryce Gauge Waegner o f Holtville, CA; b rother, John; sister's, Annie, Martha, Mary, Nancy, and Virgie; daughter-inlaw, D ebbie Valenzuela; and many o ther a unts, uncles, nieces, and and many o ther a unts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A Rosary will be held on March 1 6, 2023, from 6-9 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, E l Centro, C A. Services will be officiated by Father Mark Edney on March 17, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, El Centro, CA, followed by the Burial a t Evergreen Cemetery.
