Mercedes DeLuna Navarro passed a way peacefully surrounded by her family on February 7, 2023. She w as b orn on September 2 4, 1 926, in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, to A urelia a nd Maximillia­no DeLuna. She m arried P ablo Marzan Navarro, and together they worked s ide by side and raised their 5 children. Mercedes worked f or most of h er life in farm labor and in packing sheds. She finally retired in her 80s and enjoyed the remainder of her life as a homemaker. Mercedes l oved g ardening, h er p lants, h er a nimals, and her family, but most of all she loved the Lord. She p rayed every single day and would always include her family, friends, and anyone who was in n eed of p rayer. For most of her life, Mercedes was a devoted Catholic a nd a p roud member of the Guadalupan­a Associatio­n of Our Lady o f Guadalupe Church, but she surrendere­d her life as a Christian. S he n ever l ost her faith or love for the Lord. Mercedes was preceded in d eath b y her loving husband, P ablo; her infant son, Jose; her infant daughter, Christina; a nd her beloved son, Paul. She is survived by her sister, Emilia P ascual; sons, Johnny, Tony (Mary), Arturo ( Terri); and daughter, Rosa (Chris) Gongora. She is also s urvived by h er grandchild­ren, C hristeena (Rabbs), C arlos (Susana), Artie, Michael (Teresa), Frances, M icaela, T .J., C assandra, Alexis, and Christophe­r; and great-grandchild­ren, Zoe, Jace, and Carlos. Services will be held at Hems Brothers Mortuary on T hursday, March 23, 2023, from 6-9 p.m. Final viewing will b e Friday, March 24, 2023, at Hems Brothers Mortuary from 10-11 a.m. with a graveside service at E vergreen to follow immediatel­y. The family would like to thank Jessica Ruiz, NP, Dr. Zadeh, ECRMC Radiology, a nd h er n urses, Angela and Lorena from Imperial Valley Hospice, for their wonderful care and excellent s ervice. Thank you for making her feel comfortabl­e.
