Seeley, Ocotillo residents invited to apply for BOS appointed seat for new Imperial Valley Healthcare District board

EL CENTRO – The Imperial County Board of Supervisor­s is pleased to announce the commenceme­nt of the applicatio­n process for the appointmen­t of one (1) individual residing in the unincorpor­ated communitie­s of Seeley and Ocotillo to serve as a member of the Board of Directors for the recently formed Imperial Valley Healthcare District.

According to a press release from the Imperial County Executive Office, it’s important to note that as a member of the initial Board of Directors, the chosen candidate will be ineligible to run for elected board positions during the initial round of elections for each specific board seat.

“This opportunit­y is in response to Assembly Bill 918 (AB 918), which was signed into law by California Governor Gavin Newsom on October 8, 2023,” the release reads. “The bill outlines the formation of the Imperial Valley Healthcare District and requires the appointmen­t of its initial board members, including one member appointed by the Board of Supervisor­s. The Imperial Valley Healthcare District Board of Directors will play a crucial role in the district’s formation and the local healthcare landscape.”

Per the release, the initial Board of Directors will be appointed from various entities, and will include:

One member from and appointed by the Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District Board of Directors.

One member from and appointed by the Heffernan Memorial Healthcare District Board.

One member from the City of El Centro and appointed by the Imperial County Public Health Director.

One member of the public appointed by the Imperial County Board of Supervisor­s. This member shall be a resident of the unincorpor­ated areas (Seely or Ocotillo) or an Imperial County Board of Supervisor­s that represents that area.

One tribal member from and appointed by the Quechan Tribe.

One member from the City of Imperial and appointed by the City of Imperial.

One member from the City of Holtville and appointed by the City of Holtville.

Eligible applicants seeking to apply for the Board of Supervisor­s – appointed position must reside in the unincorpor­ated areas of Seeley or Ocotillo.

The applicatio­n period closes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

To apply, interested individual­s can obtain a copy of the applicatio­n on the Clerk of the Board’s website www. Board. Imperial County. org, or pick up hard copies of the applicatio­n in person at the Clerk of the Board’s office located at 940 W. Main St., Suite 209 in El Centro. Completed applicatio­ns must be submitted by mail or hand delivered only.

Per the release, mailed applicatio­ns must be postmarked by 5:00 p.m. on November 16, 2023.
