Both marvel at the coincidence. “You couldn’t plan something like this,” says Leah, an education strategist for Dell. She’d been attempting to get pregnant “for quite a while” with husband Kyle, 36, who works in finance. Although the twins are incredibly close — they talk and text with each other and their two other sisters nearly every day — they never coordinated conception schedules. Leah says Sarah’s husband, Nick, 39, CEO for a social media analytics company, was shocked. “He was like, ‘ What?! I didn’t even know you guys were trying!’”

They also enjoyed incredibly similar, healthy pregnancies. The Michigan State graduates both craved the same foods (“Sweets!” says Leah) and even had a joint baby shower. “We texted each other pictures of pastries, cupcakes and doughnuts,” says Sarah. “It was fun to have someone to commiserate with on the rough days or celebrate with on the days you felt great.”

Now the twins are looking forward to introducing their babies to each other in the coming months. “It’s funny, the two of us have shared everything, including our birthdays, so it’s kind of ironic that these two as cousins will get to experience a bit of what we’ve experienced as sisters. We’re super blessed,” says Leah. Adds Sarah: “It’s a joyful thing, and whether it’s serendipitous, God, fate, whatever you want to believe in, it’s definitely a happy story!”
