Jade & Tanner: We’re Pregnant!
Reality TV sweethearts Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert share their big announcement with In Touch
Nearly all of Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert’s relationship has played out on TV. But the duo, who met (and got engaged!) on Bachelor in Paradise, wed on the special The Bachelor at 20 and worked through trust issues on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars, have been keeping a secret from fans. And now they’re sharing it exclusively with In Touch readers. On Dec. 28, before Tanner headed to work at Legends Toyota in Kansas City, Kan., an at-home pregnancy test confirmed some huge news: Jade is expecting their first child. When they found out, “Jade cried a little bit,” Tanner, 29, tells In Touch. “I was just really excited.”
On March 5, the parents-to-be showed off Jade’s growing bump in an exclusive photo shoot with In Touch. They also revealed how the pregnancy is going so far. The first trimester “was like 24/7 nausea,” Jade, 30, tells In Touch. Now at the 13-week mark, Jade’s stomach is finally starting to settle, and they’re beginning to plan ahead. They intend to find out their baby’s gender well before the Sept. 14 due date so they can decide on a name. (They currently have three names picked out for each sex.) And even while they’re busy overseeing construction of a new fivebedroom house in Kansas, they’re figuring out birthing plans. “If the pregnancy is lowrisk, I would love to have an at-home water birth,” says Jade, who once considered becoming a doula herself. “But Tanner’s a little concerned.”
There’s more he’s worried about. “I’m willing to do whatever it takes to change as few diapers as possible,” Tanner says. “I’ll do every other duty if it means no poopy diapers!” Surprisingly, Jade’s OK with that: “He works a lot, so I’ll gladly take on most of the responsibility,” she promises. “I’m naturally nurturing, and I just can’t wait to have our baby.” ◼
