Blake Breaks Gwen's Heart

Gwen Stefani is devastated after Blake Shelton decides to cool things off

-

Their on-air lovefest has been must-see TV for more than a year and a half now. Ever since Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton fell for each other on the set of The Voice in the summer of 2015 in the wake of their painful divorces, their flirting, banter and affectionate moments have kept viewers coming back for more. “The Voice would love nothing more than for Blake to propose on live television,” an insider tells In Touch. “Imagine the ratings!”

But it’s just not going to happen. “Blake knows the timing isn’t right,” the insider tells In Touch exclusively. “He’s sensed recently that Gwen’s been a little hesitant about getting married again, so he told her they don’t need to rush things. Their relationship was moving so quickly, and he put the brakes on everything. She may have felt dumped, but it’s the best for both of them.” Blake, 40, is even giving her some space. “He had been living at Gwen’s house, but he recently asked production to rent a house for him, even though there is only a short time left in the season,” adds the insider. “He wants to do things right, even if he knows it might be hurting Gwen.”

They’re still spending time together. The pair were spotted at Yosemite National Park on May 13. They stopped for dinner at Ducey’s on the Lake at the Pines Resort, where they happily posed for photos with the restaurant’s managertony Diaz. “When you see

them,” says Tony, “you can see that it’s real.”

That may be true, but they also come from such different worlds. “It was never just Gwen and Blake alone at the house, even when the kids weren’t there, because Gwen has a massive staff — two assistants, a full-time makeup artist, house manager, several housekeepers, two chefs and two nannies,” says the insider. “Blake doesn’t like all that fuss. He’s most happy when it’s just them and the kids. Gwen is completely opposite from Blake. For example, she’s obsessed with being in shape and has a trainer come to her house for two hours a day, while Blake’s idea of physical fitness is getting up for a drink and returning to the couch to watch television. He likes to kick back and relax.”

They also can’t agree on where to live. “Blake really doesn’t like to be in Southern California when he isn’t filming The Voice,” explains the source. “And Gwen doesn’t like to go to Blake’s Oklahoma ranch without her boys [Kingston, 10, Zuma, 8, and Apollo, 3]. She gets bored.”

Also putting a strain on the relationship? Gwen’s ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, 51. “There is always drama between Gwen and Gavin concerning the kids,” says the insider, who adds that Gavin recently tried to have a sit-down meeting with Gwen, 47, and Blake to discuss how the boys would be affected if they broke up, because Gavin was sensing they were having problems. “Blake was just exhausted by all of it.” He knows Gwen has been greatly affected by the Gavin situation, too, which is another reason why Blake thinks they should slow down. “He knows they have something special here, and he doesn’t want to ruin it,” adds the insider. “He thinks cooling things off a little will make them stronger in the long run. Gwen might not realize that right now, but trust me, she will.” ◼
