Beyoncé’s Dramatic Delivery

The birth of the twins doesn’t go as smoothly as Beyoncé and Jay Z had hoped

Everything had to be perfect. So when LA’S Cedars-sinai Medical Center informed Beyoncé and Jay Z that an entire wing wouldn’t be closed off for the birth of their twins, they went to UCLA Medical Center. “UCLA agreed to lay out the red carpet for them,” an insider says of the A-listers, who reportedly welcomed a boy and a girl on June 12. “That’s why the babies were born there.”

But the couple still ran into trouble. “There was a lot of drama, specifically with the Knowles family,” a source tells In Touch. “Beyoncé made it clear that she wanted this day to run smoothly, but her family just did not listen.” The singer, who reportedly also stayed in the hospital with the twins following the birth due to an unspecified minor issue, was furious. “This was supposed to be one of the most touching and beautiful days of her life,” adds the source. “But Beyoncé was so stressed out because of all the fighting.”

Her father, Mathew, was at the center of the drama. “He really wanted to be part of the special day and kept calling repeatedly,” says the source. But Beyoncé, 35, her sister, Solange, and her mom, Tina, “didn’t want him there because they don’t trust him not to leak private information about the twins — or even worse, take photos.” (Beyoncé has had a strained relationship with her father, 65, since 2011, when she severed ties with his management label.) Finally, Tina picked up the phone and had “some pretty harsh words for Mathew,” says the source, adding that Solange, 30, eventually stepped in and handled her father. “They didn’t want Beyoncé to have to deal with him.” There was also some tension between Tina and Jay. Beyoncé, who’s already mom to Blue, 5, “gave birth via a planned C-section, so only one person was allowed in the delivery room,” says the source, adding that naturally Beyoncé chose her husband. Tina, 63, then “got really salty and made a comment about Jay not being home for the hard parts of Beyoncé’s pregnancy. She ended up leaving the hospital room for ‘a breather.’” But now that the babies are here, Beyoncé can finally relax. “She is so relieved it’s all over and is so happy the twins are finally here,” says the source, adding that she and Jay, 47, have taken a ton of photos and videos that they plan to use in a future documentary. “Despite all the drama, she really feels like her life is perfect right now.” ◼
