Fuller House’s Jodie Sweetin opens up to In Touch about her sitcom family and weekly podcast

-

Jodie Sweetin and her Full House (and now Fuller House) co-stars have been close for more than 30 years. In that time they’ve seen each other through good times (professional triumphs, marriage and kids) and bad (Jodie’s struggle with drug addiction, and Lori Loughlin’s alleged involvement in the college admissions scandal, for which she’s facing 40 years in prison). “This family, we’re together through thick and thin,” says the 37-year-old actress and mom of Zoie, 11, and Beatrix, 9. Which is why she’s not too broken up about the Netflix show coming to an end after its upcoming fifth season. “It’s easier knowing I won’t be saying goodbye to them,” she says. “I’m never getting rid of them!” Here, the thrice-divorced actress, who hosts the weekly parenting podcast Never Thought I’d Say This with her BFF Celia Behar, tells In Touch’s Diana Cooper about her castmate bonds, her boyfriend of one year, Mescal Wasilewski, and why the “eye roll” emoji is her fave!

You really are such a tight-knit cast.

JS: The people I work with are my best friends. We have a kidfriendly set and we bring our kids, John [Stamos] brings his baby, so our own families are like family. It’s so great.

Are you closest with Candace [Cameron Bure]?

JS: Me, Candace and Andrea [Barber] are very connected. If two of us are talking, the third will come and say, “What are you talking about?” We always want to know what’s going on!

Is it true you call your lunch break “group therapy”?

JS: Oh yeah! [Laughs] Sometimes we just need to rant. TUNE IN! Fuller House returns to Netflix later this year

How do you feel about the show ending?

JS: It’s sad because we all have so much fun together. But it’s also exciting. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Your podcast centers around motherhood and having to say things you never thought you would. Any recent examples?

JS: Don’t put clean clothes in the hamper! You’d think that’s logical, but every week you’re washing clothes that you know haven’t been on anyone’s body because they’re too lazy to put them away.

What are your daughters into these days?

JS: My oldest is a great athlete. She plays soccer and loves sports. My youngest really likes singing and musicals so maybe she’ll be my big Broadway star, who knows.

How are things with Mescal?

JS: Things are good. We’re happy. He lives in New York and I live in LA so it’s a lot of travel, but we’re enjoying things.

Would you like to get married again?

JS: Maybe. I never say no to anything so we’ll see!

You wrote a memoir about your life in 2009 called UnSweetined. Would you ever write another book?

JS: I go back and forth. I do feel like I have more stories to tell.

Do you feel like you’ve come a long way in the last 10 years?

JS: It’s been a phenomenal journey, yes. I’m in such a good place right now. I’m really enjoying life! ◼
