Birthday diva! Meghan Markle goes all out as she turns 39.

The Duchess of Sussex is turning 39 — and she’s got a long wish list for her epic celebratory bash

Meghan Markle’s first four months back in her hometown of LA haven’t exactly gone as planned. Not only did the global pandemic put a damper on her hopes of introducing her husband, Prince Harry, to Hollywood’s social scene, but the pair have been dealing with multiple lawsuits they filed relating to their privacy. “It’s been a stressful year, and after being holed up for four months in quarantine, Meghan’s ready to bust out,” a source says of the duchess, who turns 39 on Aug. 4. “She wants to have a blowout party with all her friends. It’s also her last birthday in her 30s, so she’s going to make sure it’s the most memorable one yet.”

Harry and her friends certainly won’t forget it — for all the wrong reasons. “If you thought Meghan’s baby shower was extravagant, it’ll be nothing compared to this bash. She’s being a total diva about it,” says the source, revealing that Meghan is budgeting about $200,000 for a three-day celebration in tony Montecito, Calif., about two hours north of LA. And the birthday girl already has a long list of wishes — including a strict set of rules for her guests! “She’s using this milestone as an excuse to go all out,” say the source, “but her friends are already annoyed by her ridiculous demands!”

The guest list has been carefully screened — literally. “Meghan is insisting that guests take COVID-19 tests beforehand,” the source says of the “lucky” few A-list attendees (see box). “And everyone knows how obsessed Meghan is with privacy, so they’ll also be asked to sign an NDA and giving up their cellphones to prevent photos being leaked.”

OUTRAGEOUS EXTRAVAGANZA

Those who make the cut will be treated to a first-class getaway. “There will be spa treatments, amazing meals made by one of California’s top chefs and the most expensive champagne. And Meghan wants everyone to wear black tie in the evenings,” says the source, adding that the former actress even reached out to designers for a couture party dress. “It sounds more like the Oscars than a birthday party. Guests will even go home with $500 goody bags!”

At least they won’t have to worry about what to get the woman who has everything. Friends were given strict instructions about what to buy the duchess — things like jewelry and designer clothes. Harry, 35, “is mortified by all of this,” the source says of the prince, who arranged a low-key, at-home celebration for Meghan with their son Archie, 14 months, last year. “He’d do something like that again if he could — Harry may be a prince, but he’s incredibly low-maintenance. He was horrified by her grand plans, and goodness knows where he’s going to find the money to pay for it! They aren’t exactly raking it in these days. Her prima donna behavior is driving him up the wall.” ◼
