IS TOM TRYING TO LOOK YOUNGER?
Tom’s movie-star smile was on full display when he met up with Shakira in Miami, but fans couldn’t help but notice there was something different about his face. “It looks like he’s gotten work done to try to look younger,” commented one fan online. Dr. Tony Youn, a board-certified plastic surgeon who hasn’t treated Tom, agrees. “Tom’s eyes appear more open than before. This may be due to a conservative blepharoplasty [upper-eyelid lift] or possibly strategic injections of Botox.” And gone are the bags under his eyes. “He may be 14 years older than Shakira,” says a source, “but he doesn’t look it. Whatever he may have had done, he looks fantastic.”
a workaholic with no time for love pursuits. Though he was linked to his Mission: Impossible franchise costar Hayley Atwell, 41, in 2020 and again in 2022, they never confirmed a romance. In fact, Tom hasn’t dated anyone publicly since his split from Katie. “Tom goes through these stages where he swears off dating, but he never said he wasn’t open to the possibility of finding love again,” says the source. “He’s never given up on love, but being who he is, it’s hard to find someone who is genuinely interested in him as a person, not as a movie star.”
Also, dating the biggest movie star in the world isn’t easy. “Everyone is watching,” notes the source. “Tom’s dated a few women in London” — where he’s lived in recent years — “but it was under the radar and out of the public eye. He understands how hard it is for the women he goes
out with. They’re put under a microscope.” But someone like Shakira, who’s also a global superstar, “already understands that,” says the source. “They’re equals. They also happen to make a really cute couple, and at 5-foot-2, she’s the perfect height for him.” (He’s 5-foot-7.)
ALL THE RIGHT MOVES
Because of Shakira, says the source, Tom has made a big decision: He’s planning to make the U.S. his home base again. He has an apartment in Clearwater, Fla., near Scientology headquarters, and that’s only a one-hour flight from Miami. “So he will make that his new home. He may even get a new place in Miami eventually.”
A lot depends on where Shakira’s head is at. Just a day before she was with Tom, she hinted that she’s focusing on herself right now as she
acclimates to her new life in the States. “What woman hasn’t at some time in her life forgotten herself because she’s seeking the attention and love of someone else? It happened to me, more than once,” she said while accepting Billboard’s first Woman of the Year award during the inaugural Latin Women in Music gala on May 6. “But there comes a time in the life of every woman where she no longer depends on someone else to love and accepts herself just as she is.”
That night, a new relationship seemed to be the furthest thing from her mind. But then less than 24 hours later, she met Tom. “Sometimes someone is put in your path when you least expect it or when you’re not looking for it,” says the source. “He could change everything. It’s no accident that she and Tom ended up at the same event that day.” ￭
