A man believed to be responsible for the March arson of a Redlands home occupied by a husband, wife and their two children was arrested, police announced Wednesday.

Daniel Ray Fell, 38, was arrested by the Redlands Police Department on suspicion of attempted murder and arson in connection with a March 22 fire in the 1200 block of Devon Place, police said. He was located and arrested Tuesday at a motel in the 1900 block of University Avenue in Riverside.

On March 22, at 2 a.m., firefighters and police responded to the fire at the single-family home and found that the residents escaped uninjured. Arson investigators later determined the cause of the blaze to be arson, police said.

Residential cameras in the neighborhood captured a suspect and a vehicle in the area before and after the fire. Police assisted in identifying the vehicle using automated license plate reader cameras and determined Fell as the suspect.

Police also served a search another search warrant at a motel in the 6800 block of Valley Way in Jurupa Valley. Evidence was recovered at both motels, police said.

Fell is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, police said.
