JOSEPH TRUJILLO

-

July 26, 1934 - May 15, 2021

Joseph “Sonny” Fernando Trujillo, Riverside native, son of Henry and Minnie Trujillo, passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2021. He is survived by his partner Marie Garrison, a daughter, Sharon Kasner, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded by his first wife, JoAnne and his brother, Richard Trujillo.

Sonny, to his friends and family, was born in Riverside on July 26, 1934. He grew up on the northside of town, attended Fremont Elementary and Poly High School where he played baseball. After starting a family, he earned a degree from Cal State LA and worked in aluminum sales with specialty and extruded products. His career took him down multiple paths. He and JoAnne owned a drive-thru dairy and a scale business before going back into sales and retiring a second time! If he was not in his favorite chair or on the golf course, one could usually find him in the home office keeping up on paperwork.

He was a long-time member of Canyon Crest Country Club, Exchange Club and Elks Lodge. He enjoyed spending time golfing with cronies, playing cards and tiles with friends and family or “watching” (aka napping) an afternoon baseball game or golf match on TV. In his later years he was fond of weekend dances, traveling and still doing his own yard work. He was a fixture along Country Club Drive with his straw hat and penchant for over-watering everything. He is dearly missed and will never be forgotten.

The family would like for those who knew him to join us in celebration with a funeral mass Wednesday, June 23rd at the St. Andrew Newman Center in Riverside at 10AM with a 12PM lunch reception at Romano’s Canyon Crest. In lieu of flowers, please make an investment towards family and friends with the most precious commodity of all, time.
