Touch-a-Truck slated to return as an in-person event Sept. 4
The Rotary Club of Redlands will bring its Toucha-Truck event back as an in-person activity 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 4 on the campus of Redlands East Valley High School.
It’s the seventh time the Rotary Club of Redlands is presenting Touch-a-Truck, though the 2020 event was virtual because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The event will feature dozens of vehicles, provided by local businesses and government agencies, for children to see, hear and touch, according to a news release. Many vehicle operators permit children to flash the lights and honk the horns.
Local nonprofit organizations that provide services to families will provide information about their services, and representatives of local businesses will be available to talk about what they do in the community.
The kids zone and beach ball dump truck will return, and there will be several food trucks at the event. There also will be characters from shows, acrobats, jugglers and magicians, according to the news release.
Also returning is the No Noise 90 Minutes segment from 9 to 10:30 a.m. to accommodate the very young or other people for whom loud noises and flashing lights might present problems.
Tickets are $5 each and free for children younger than 3. A Family Fun Pack admitting up to six costs $20. Families of active-duty military members, up to six people, are admitted free with ID or with the military member in uniform. Scholarships for individuals or family-service organizations are available.
Proceeds will help fund the Safety Around Water program conducted free of charge by the YMCA of the East Valley for every second grader in the Redlands Unified School District and will support the local, national and international charitable initiatives of the Redlands Rotary Club Foundation.
There are still openings for businesses, individuals and organizations who want to bring a vehicle for display, host an information or activity booth or help underwrite the cost of Touch-a-Truck with a sponsorship at any level.
