LORRAINE EVELYN MYRICK

-

November 6, 1934 - March 17, 2022

Lorraine Evelyn Myrick (Reese), 87, of Cherry Valley, CA (formerly of Ontario/ Upland, CA) passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2022, with her children by her side. She was born to the late John and Henrietta Reese on November 6, 1934, in St. Vincent, MN and was preceded in death by her three brothers, Fritz, Jim, and Warren Reese. Lorraine graduated from Pembina High School in 1952 and was her class salutatorian.

She is survived by her five children: Linda Angona (Claremont), Debbie Mahlstadt (Cherry Valley), Kevin Myrick (West Jordan, UT), Janet Burton (Cherry Valley), and Keith Myrick (Maria) of Upland. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Lorraine worked as a waitress most of her adult life. For 30 years, she worked for the Flo’s Café restaurants, first at Flo’s Airport Café, next at Flo’s #2, and finally at Flo’s Country Café in Cherry Valley. Her employers, Donna, Paul, Adrianne, Scott, and Luke became an extension of her family, and many customers invariably became friends. Lorraine’s greatest joy in life was giving to others. Her children recall sharing many holiday tables with customers who would otherwise have been alone on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Since 1973 she was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Over the years, Lorraine enjoyed bowling, horse racing, and going to the casino for slot play. She also loved sitting in her special recliner watching her beloved Los Angeles Angels play.

Lorraine was the best mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother anyone could wish for. She relished caring for and loving each of her family members. Her trademark radiant smile lit up their lives daily and will be remembered all the days of their lives. Every family member will remember that a call or voice mail from Lorraine always started with, “Hi honey.” Lorraine was also a gifted cook and baker, and the memory of her dozens of home-made Christmas cookies will be cherished by those lucky enough to receive them.

The family would like to thank Accent Care Hospice for their help and support during Lorraine’s final days.

We offer a special thanks to Lorraine’s daughter Janet for the many times she took leaves from work to look after and give her special care and attention to our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

A celebration of Lorraine’s life will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022, at 11 am at Draper Mortuary, 811 N. Mountain Ave., Ontario. Interment following at Bellevue Mausoleum.
