Four Inland teams enter playoffs as No. 1 seeds

The CIF Southern Section released its pairings for the baseball playoffs Monday, and four Inland teams received the No. 1 seed in their respective divisions.

Arlington, the River Valley League champion and winner of 27 consecutiv­e games, is the top seed in Division 2 and was the lone team in the bracket to get a first-round bye. The Lions (27-1) will open the postseason at home Tuesday, May 10, against Gahr (13-14) or Torrance (21-5-1). Arlington was the Division 3 runner-up last season.

Ambassador League champion Aquinas is the No. 1 seed in the Division 4 bracket. The Falcons (25-2) will open at home Thursday afternoon against Jurupa Hills (14-13-1) or Barstow (15-11).

Sunbelt League champion Moreno Valley received the top seed in the Division 5 bracket. The Vikings (233) host Savanna (16-11) or Lancaster (10-8-2) in a first-round game Friday afternoon.

which finished tied for second in the Ambassador League, received the top seed in Division 6. The Eagles (185) open at home Thursday afternoon against Santa Rosa Academy (8-10).

Five other Inland baseball teams picked up a Top 4 seeding in their respective playoff divisions.

Big VIII League champion Norco is the No. 4 seed in the Division 2 bracket. The Cougars (23-5) open at home Thursday afternoon against Sonora (11-15-1).

Kaiser, the Sunkist League champion, received the No. 2 seed in Division 3. The Cats (20-8) will host Irvine (10-17) in a first-round

game Friday afternoon.

Santiago is the No. 4 seed in Division 4, but the Sharks (16-10) will have to start with a wild-card round game because they finished third in the Big VIII League. Santiago hosts Los Altos (17-11) on Tuesday.

Mountain Pass League runner-up Citrus Hill is the No. 4 seed in the Division 5 bracket. The Hawks (155) open at home Friday afternoon against Pomona (11-10).

Chino, which tied for second place in the Mt. Baldy League, is seeded third in Division 6. The Cowboys (168) host Sierra Vista (10-8) in a firstround game Thursday afternoon.
