Kids, adults can win prizes in summer reading program
San Bernardino Public Library’s summer reading program, for everyone from infants to adults, will kick off June 6 and run through Aug. 6.
This year’s theme is “Read Beyond the Beaten Path,” intended to encourage skill development and exploration, both in books and outdoors, according to a news release.
Participants who sign up at sbpl. beanstack.org can share book reviews and earn prizes and entries toward the grand prize raffle at the end of the program.
Each library is hosting a program to celebrate the beginning of the summer reading program.
Ventriloquist Joe Gandelman will perform 5 p.m. June 7 at the Feldheym Central Library, 555 W. Sixth St.
Magician Arty Loon will perform 5:30 p.m. June 14 at the Inghram branch, 1505 W. Highland
Ave.
Magician David Skale will perform 6 p.m. June 7 at the Rowe branch, 108 E. Marshall Blvd.
Storyteller and artist Christopher Yates will present a program 6 p.m. June 6 at the Villaseñor branch, 525 N. Mount Vernon Ave.
Participants will earn online badges by keeping track of minutes, and each badge gives the participant an entry into the end-ofthe-summer prize drawing.
Grand prizes will be awarded at the completion of the program in early August. Drawings will be held at each library and winners will be notified.
The summer reading program is sponsored by the Friends of the San Bernardino Public Library.
Library hours at all four branches are noon-8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
