“She had a great laugh, and we had so much fun together!” remembers Luke Davis of his first date with Krystal Schlegel. They went to four different places, and “as soon as he dropped me off, he called to make plans to get together again!” shares Krystal. When the time was right, Luke spent two months procuring the perfect classic emerald-cut engagement ring for his beloved. Knowing Krystal would want a photographer to document the moment since she works as a style blogger and influencer, Luke arranged for the dream proposal to take place in her parents’ backyard where they would later exchange vows. “Next thing I knew, he was down on one knee, our photographer John Cain was taking photos, and my little nieces and nephews came running out to give us a hug!” reminisces the bride. “Luke planned the most special night that I will never forget!”
With just five months to plan their nuptials, the couple enlisted Todd Events for floral design and Diamond Affairs Weddings and Special Events to organize the details involved with planning an at-home celebration. “I did not realize how much work goes into every single detail… especially when creating your venue!” confirms the bride. “It was always my dream to get married in the backyard of the home that I grew up in… Our wedding planners created our vision perfectly.”
When the big day finally arrived, 550 guests were welcomed to the exquisite Dallas home, built in a French Chateau style, which beautifully set the tone for the fairy-tale fête. The décor scheme of the celebration blended natural elements with the elegant design of the property, while keeping with the simple, clean, and neutral aesthetic desired by the bride. Ivy climbed up the brick exterior of the maison, manicured boxwood hedges lined the entryway and ceremony space, and the lush garden setting was further accentuated with hundreds of vanilla blooms, cherry blossoms, and branches.

The ceremony took place in the courtyard on a raised stage built over the reflecting pool. A tented structure featured suspended lanterns adorned with branches, greenery, and romantic blossoms along the multi-level aisle. “Since we did not get married in a church, we still wanted it to feel religious,” the bride explains of the ceremony, which was presided over by their church pastor. As electric violinists and trumpeters performed from the balcony, Krystal walked down the aisle to meet her groom in front of a gorgeous flower wall complete with a large floral cross at the altar. “We did not do a ‘first look’ so opening the front doors to walk down the aisle and see Luke for the first time that day was really special,” she smiles.
Before entering the tented reception space, loved ones found their table assignments on a towering hedge wall decorated with a reflective diamond lattice trellis and mirrored escort cards emblazoned with alabaster calligraphy. Once inside, the garden aesthetic continued with live trees displayed in the center of the structure. Soft drapery illuminated with twinkling string lights was suspended overhead, as were floral-embellished lanterns. Attendees found their seats at round and rectangular tables decorated with ambient candlelight and blooms in muted tones accented with branches. The head table was strewn with a textured flower-print linen and topped with table lamps featuring classic pleated shades interspersed with blush and ivory blossoms, including dahlias, hydrangeas, peonies, and roses, that cascaded gracefully to the floor.
Following the dinner service, friends and family were served slices of the stunning six-tier confetti wedding cake decorated with textured details and butterfly accents, which provided nourishment and energy for an evening on the dance floor. “We had an amazing band,” notes the groom. “I love Queen, and they did a special Queen medley!” The bride agrees, noting one of her favorite parts of the day was dancing all night long. “Everyone danced the night away!” she affirms.
