OK, OK, eyes over here … So this is what happens when you leave the glorious Jennifer Lopez unsupervised. When this epic Valentino couture cape was shown in Paris, it was paired with a silk shirt and shorts. But not if Jlo’s wearing it. She knows how to command attention, and, frankly, we’re happy to be bossed around. Who better to star on the cover of our Style 100 issue than the world’s most glamorous woman? JLO, you’re on a Jhigh.

Whether your own confidence comes from taking it all off under sequins or, say, enjoying female friendship, this is the issue for you. I was having lunch with the wonderful designer Michael Kors over the summer, and we plotted a fabulous dinner party and photo shoot with some of the most epic women we know. From Iman to Naomi Watts and Tiffany Haddish to Judith Light, a group of brilliant, accomplished, and, well, badass women got together and made firm friendships (and, yes, some wore sequins—but not like JLO).

To that end, last year I was proud to join the advisory board of #Seeher, which seeks to ensure accurate representation of women and girls in the media by 2020 (wouldn’t that be nice?). Another member of the #Seeher board is Lisa Borders, the former head of the WNBA, who has recently been appointed CEO of Time’s Up. So while Lisa and the other #Seeher members are getting the job done, I’m thrilled that our parent company, Meredith, has pledged to have all our brands certified by the Gender Equality Measure (GEM ) to support the mission.

So until that heady day when both sexes are on the same playing field, we shall keep pushing. Meanwhile, celebrate women, love your girlfriends—and wear your sequins however you damn want.

Enjoy the issue!
