Set in the win­ter of 1968, the film cen­ters on a string of Lon­don per­for­mances that would ul­ti­mately be Gar­land’s last (Septem­ber 27).

THE POLITI­CIAN Ryan Mur­phy’s highly an­tic­i­pated first Net­flix se­ries is de­li­ciously campy, fol­low­ing a rich high school kid (ex­pertly played by Ben Platt) who re­fuses to let any­thing de­rail his Oval Of­fice am­bi­tions. Gwyneth Pal­trow, Jessica Lange, Zoey Deutch, and Lucy Boyn­ton also star (Septem­ber 27).
