Mammoth Rocks music festival to be held Aug. 26-27

Event to feature original music, tribute bands

The 13th annual Mammoth Rocks music festival returns Friday, Aug. 26 – Saturday, Aug. 27.

The festival will feature two nights of original music and classic rock tribute bands at The Village at Mammoth in Mammoth Lakes.

Mammoth Rocks kicks off with The Felt Cutouts (covers and originals) on Friday,

Aug. 26, at 4 p.m. Also performing Friday night are In the Led (Led Zeppelin tribute) and Super Diamond (Neil Diamond tribute) is headlining this incredible night at 8 p.m.

The lineup on Saturday, Aug. 27, starts with Catch A Wave, a Beach Boys show. Filling out the performanc­es on Saturday night are Paperback Writer (the Beatles experience), and Fooz Fighters (Foo Fighters tribute) are headlining, starting at 8 p.m.

The charitable beneficiar­y for this year’s festival is Mono Arts Council (MAC). MAC is bringing their Splash

Art Booth where participan­ts purchase raffle tickets for five paint filled balloons which they throw at giant canvas, using their Balloon Smasher 5000, to create a collaborat­ive piece of Splash Art. Raffle tickets are drawn at the end of each day to announce the winner of that day’s piece.

“Since 2009, the Mammoth Rocks team has worked hard to put on one of the bestattend­ed festivals of the summer,” said Mark Deeds and Matthew Lehman, Mammoth Rocks festival organizers. “We hope you can come out and enjoy the show!”

The end-of-summer festival favorite promises to be a feast for the senses. Admission is free, local eateries, and beer, wine, and spirits will be available. No outside alcohol is permitted. Leashed and wellbehave­d dogs are welcome.
