Where’s Paul, where’s Nancy?
The violent attack on our Capitol Building on Jan. 6, 2021, and last week’s violent attack on Paul Pelosi, the 82-year-old husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the direct result of Donald Trump’s unwillingness to accept his loss in the 2020 presidential election. It’s as simple as that.
Testimony at the January 6 Committee hearings – that we watched on television – established the fact that Trump knew he had lost the election. He knew Biden had won fair and square. But Trump wouldn’t, or psychologically couldn’t, accept the loss and instead implemented his premeditated plan that we know as THE BIG LIE. And now, two years after the election, THE BIG LIE is still dominating the atmosphere surrounding the midterm election just days away.
Notwithstanding the disclaimers we’ve been hearing from Trump and his supporters, it cannot be denied that if Trump had acted appropriately when he knew he had lost the 2020 presidential election – a congratulatory phone call to the winner, a concession speech, and the peaceful transfer of power – our country would be in a much better place.
Clearly, if Donald Trump had acted with respect for our Constitution, the rule of law, and the best interests of our nation, the political violence and vitriol we’ve suffered for two years now, based on his fictitious BIG LIE, would not have happened. It’s as simple as that.
Let’s hope and pray for Paul Pelosi’s complete recovery. Sincerely,
Gary Lake Bishop
