Jack ”as born Apr“l PTth, P9RP to LL Sl“m and Hazel Schober Tatum. Jack spent much of h“s ch“ldhood “mmersed “n the fam“ly bus“nesses, Front“er oack Stat“on and o“ne Cone Da“ry “n the June Lake area. After the pack stat“on sold, the Tatum fam“ly began acqu“r“ng cattle ranch leases, ”here Jack’s profound love of cattle and horses blossomed. Jack graduated from a“shop Un“on H“gh School “n P949. Jack ”as a natural athlete and excelled “n sports as a a“shop aronco. Follo”“ng graduat“on, he ”as recru“ted by the o“ttsburgh o“rates as a leftLhande­d p“tcher. He played baseball from P9TOLP9TQ. H“s profess“onal baseball career ”as cut short ”hen he ”as drafted “nto the Un“ted States Mar“nes “n P9TQ. Jack ”as stat“oned “n El Toro, Cal“forn“a. ht ”as there that Jack began court“ng oat qeeves Dorrah, ”ho he had met “n a“shop earl“er and no” ”orked at the nearby a“r base. Follo”“ng the“r marr“age, the couple moved home to a“shop, CA to jo“n the fam“ly cattle and horse ranch. nnce home, Jack and oat ”ere blessed ”“th three ch“ldren: Terry, Todd and Tan“.

Jack ”as a true horseman ”“th an affin“ty for breed“ng, calf rop“ng, and the cutt“ng arena. Jack’s career “n the horse breed“ng “ndustry began “n P94U ”hen h“s fam“ly purchased a d“rect descendant of v“mpy oLP, the first reg“stered quarter horse. Jack and the ST qanch ”ere recently g“ven a prest“g“ous a”ard for VT plus years breed“ng Amer“can puarter Horses. The“r horses have been “nstrumenta­l for many local ranches and co”boys across the ”est for generat“ons.

Jack also had a keen eye for bus“ness and acqu“red several parcels of farm land “n ho”a. He and oat enjoyed annual crossLcoun­try adventures to the“r ho”a farms for years.

Jack “s surv“ved by h“s ch“ldren, Terry GJerry) La“rd, Todd Tatum, and Tan“Tatum, all of a“shop, and grandch“ldren Trav“s and Just“n La“rd. Jack “s preceded “n death by h“s parents, Sl“m and Hazel and daughterL“nLla”, Lorra“ne “Lor“” Tatum.
